Colton Stabeno (R)

Born as a third generation Bastrop County resident, my family has strong ties to the Bastrop County community. My grandfather and father owned Stabeno Construction, where they built many homes all over Bastrop County. I graduated from Elgin High School and then fulfilled a childhood dream of mine by enrolling at Texas A&M University in College Station, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.

As of July 8th, I became engaged to my beautiful fiancé Krystal Moncure. She would become the last piece of the puzzle in my decision to run for County Commissioner. A resident of Rockne, she too has deep ties to Bastrop County, as her family owned Moncure Plumbing in Bastrop. We are set to get married in April of 2016, and we’re both excited about starting a family together. We recently bought land in Rockne, and will begin construction on our home soon. Getting married, running for office, and building a home, all in the same year, often causes folks to question my sanity!

I am currently serving a 4 year term on the Lower Colorado River Mid-Basin Regional Council. This council serves as an important link between LCRA and the communities in which they serve.
Additionally, I am member of the Bastrop Sportsman’s Committee. As a member of this committee, I assist with planning, promoting, and working the Bastrop Sportsman’s Banquet. Last year, this Banquet raised over $175,000 for the school districts of Bastrop County.

I am employed with Bastrop County as the LPHCP Administrator. This position has granted me great insight to our local government and the everyday requirements of a County Commissioner. Working for Bastrop County in a public service position has truly been a blessing, and I hope to continue that service as a Commissioner!
